Royal
Sotogrande opened in 1964 and is still one of Europe's top 10
courses.
Although this is a private club, green-fee- paying visitors are
welcome although they should book in advance.
Often referred as the "old" course to differentiate
it from its younger neighbour, Valderrama, the Robert Trent Jones
design features mature trees -pine, cork, oak, palm and eucalyptus-
and plenty of water hazards, namely at the 12th, 13th, 14th, 16th
and 17th. The fairways are inmaculate but watch out for the rough.
There is also a short par 3 course.
