Located opposite Marbella's Hotel Don Carlos, Santa Maria's 18-hole layout of a proyected 27 follows the contours of two valleys in which the natural vegetation, streams and four lakes form natural hazards. The first nine holes are shorter but trickier than the back nine, which are flatter and have wider fairways. Players will find several holes particulary memorable: at the 7th the green is surrounded by the green. Other features of Santa María are its magnificent clubhouse, its tennis courts and swimming pool, lawn bowls and, for those wishing extra tuition, the Diego Morito Golf School which has one of the best reputations on the coast.
