This
27-hole course, designed by Enrique Canales and Luis Recasens,
opened in 1992. Three years later, in 1995 it was the venue for
the Turespaña Masters Open de Andalucía in which
Alexander Cejka scored his first win on the European Tour. The
golf course is part of 300-hectare estate in La Antilla and overlooks
the Atlantic Ocean. Eventually it will include an Olympic training
village, equestrian centre, yacht harbour, casino and accommodation
for 22.000 people.
Islantilla is a parkland layout with wide fairways, large greens
and a multitude of trees- Like many holes at Islantilla, the 12th
offers magnificent views over the ocean from the tee, but it is
said to be Islantilla's most difficult hole, with a double dogleg
right. The 14th is a clifftop par five with a devilisgly small
green guarded by a lone pine standing in front of it. The attractive
Andalucian-style clubhouse offers all the amenities you could
wish for.
